I just can’t get over how powerful a message it is that Castiel is the one who broke all three of those. It was definitely not an accident. It had to be him.
Because he’s the proverbial spanner in the works. According to his superiors, he came off the line with a crack in his chassis; he can’t follow orders, not completely, because he’s in fact one of the only few angels who still remember the heavenly Prime Directive: protect humanity; love humanity.
In Heaven’s eyes (though not God’s, I would assume) he is broken, and so it’s fitting that he should break the Word. Because after all this time, after five years of struggling, Castiel is still tearing up the script— literally.
Because he and the boys?
They’re making it up as they go.
